Carlton (Curley) Ray Jones

Carlton (Curley) Ray Jones of Baird passed away Friday, September 22, 2023, at the age of 78. 

Carlton was born December 5, 1944, in Abilene to Curtis Carlton and Lucille Jones.  Carlton grew up and went to school in Baird. As a teenager, he ran the projector at the old Baird theater.

Carlton worked as Production Manager of Grumpe's Specialties in Baird for 25 years.  Prior to that he worked in the auto salvage industry in Houston, TX. His hobbies included gardening, country dancing, prospecting for gold, and scuba diving. He was known for his "McGyver-ist" qualities of being able to figure things out.

He was preceded in death by his parents Curtis and Lucille, stepmother Gladys Jones, and sister Ruth Ann Garcia.

He is survived by his sons, Carlton Lynn Jones and wife Jenny of Houston, Frank Ray Jones and wife Kathleen of Boerne and Michael Jones of Baird; his daughter Cheryl June Jones of Houston; one grandchild, Olivia Lucia Jones; and caring former spouse, Maria Salome Jones.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday, September 25, 2023, at Parker-Jacobs Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Ross Cemetery Annex.
