Earnest Lee Keith, 68, of Carbon, formerly of Baird passed away Friday, September 24, 2021 in Eastland Memorial Hospital.
He was born February 15, 1953 in Eastland, Texas the oldest son of Carl Doyle Keith and Lela Faye Lovell Keith.
Earnest attended school in Baird Texas. Later enlisting in the US Air Force. He had several deployments to England, including a tour in Thialand during prior to the ending of the vietnam war. While in the Air Force he was an Aircraft Fuel Systems Mechanic. He married Nelda Wheeler March 21, 1978. She preceded him in death in 2006. He later married Nelda McDaniel Keith, who passed away October 1, 2021, a week after Earnest's death.
He was a truck driver for many years, including for Mac Goldsmith for several years. He also worked for Varner Pipe for several years before retiring. In his younger years he had worked on the McFarland ranches as a ranch hand. His greatest pasttime was participating in the ranch rodeos, going on trailrides, working at the farm with the animals. He was an outdoorsman and loved animals.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife.
Earnest is survived by his three daughters, Melissa Lund and RJ; Jennifer Keith and Gil; Sara Keith all of Abilene. Stepdaughter whom he loved as his own, Shana Davis and Wayne. Stepson,John McDaniel and Ginger. Brother Carl Eugene Keith (Puff) of Baird. Sister Carol Barron and Donald of Baird. Grandchildren Shelby Haile of Arkansas, Natalie Lund of Abilene, Justin Davis, Jacob Davis, Alex McDaniel, Austin Morman. Nephews, great nephews and great nieces; Clay Smith, Tiffany and Sterling; RC Smith, Amanda Watts and Kaytlyn, Aubree, Kaleb; TC Ashcraft, Sherry and Aubri, London and rest of their family. Cousins that were thought of as brothers and sisters as raised together, Judy Young, Jack Robinson, Johnny Robinson, Lota Davis. A host of other cousins. Uncles, Bill Keith of Eastland, Melvin Keith of Odessa, and a host of friends.
A double memorial for Earnest and Nelda will be held at Parker-Jacobs Funeral Home in Baird, Texas on Sunday October 10, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Their remains are to be laid to rest at a later date in Long Branch Cemetery in Eastland County
