James Ronald “Ron” Roberts of Baird passed away at home Friday, January 1, 2021, at the age of 71.
Ron was born October 28, 1949 in Stamford, Texas to James Jeffery and Geneva Cannon Roberts. He attended Abilene High School, and got the rest of his education, out in the world. He worked over 50 years as a Transmission Master Builder. He retired a few years back, and hated it. He was the kind of man who always wanted to keep moving. His hobbies included drag racing, tractor pulling, hunting, skeet shooting and horseback riding. He was a motorcycle hell raiser, loved to dance, and had a band where he was bass player and singer.
Ron was married to Debbra Roberts for 30+ years. He was a wonderful son, brother, father and friend to everyone he came across. He was always happy and ready to jump and run to help anyone in need at any moment. He was always there to lend an ear and a hand when needed. He loved spending time with his family, and was the best example of what a man should be that his family has ever known.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, a sister, Judy Roberts; and a nephew, Rocky Wayne.
Ron is survived by Debbra Roberts; four children, Crystal Marie, James Mathias, Clinton John and Julianna Elizabeth, as well as Debbra’s two boys, Michael and Stephen Kirkland; a brother, Rick Bennett of Hawley; 14 grandchildren, Wesley, Kaden, Dakota, Cheyenne, Jaylon, Connor, Ryker, Brinley, Garrett, Sarah, Kassie, Colton, Kailey and Chance; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews Rochelle, Jeffrey and McKayla.
Visitation will be 1:00 to 3:00 PM Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Parker-Jacobs Funeral Home, 141 E. 3rd Street in Baird, followed by a 3:00 PM graveside service at Ross Cemetery Spencer Price Addition. Those attending are reminded of social distancing guidelines. Face coverings will be required at visitation, and are recommended at the graveside.
