John Michael Aust

John Michael Aust of Baird passed at home surrounded by family Friday, November 17, 2023, at the age of 71.

He was born January 12th, 1952 in Eldon, Miller County, Missouri to Charles Wayne and Geneva Colvin Aust. John served in the Air Force during the Vietnam era. He married the love of his life, Jo Ann Wofford on June 2, 1974.

John believed in wholesome, Christian values. He was not quick to judge, often lending a supportive ear. He would pray with anyone at any time, encouraging God’s love to shine through him. John loved watching and staying up to the minute on worldly news. John would often stop to help stranded motorists. He had a quick wit, with numerous “dad-jokes” on hand for a quick laugh.

He was preceded in death by his amazing wife, Jo Ann Wofford Aust, his daughter, Geneva Jo Aust, his father, Charles Wayne Aust, his mother, Geneva Colvin Aust, his loving mother-in-law, Freda Colleen Young Wofford Allen, his oldest sister Barbara Aust Billerback, and his brother Charles Aust.

Survivors include his daughters Rhonda Schroeder (Russell) of Clyde, TX, Colleena Rodriquez (Eddie) of Abilene, TX, Shonna Cerda (Miguel) of Abilene, TX, and Kenda Aust of Baird, TX. His son, John M Aust II of Baird, TX. His grandchildren Suzan Person, Fanuel Price, Jr, Danny Hazelwood, Kayla Heard, Marrissa Rodriquez, Shyote Pellitier, Dommenyque Aust, Lucus Inthnoi, Evelynn Rodriquez Dailey, Charlize Cerda, and Scarlett Cerda, and numerous bonus grandkids. John left behind 10 great grandkids plus numerous bonus great grandkids. Surviving siblings include Donna Aust Scott and Sharon Aust Young, both of Missouri, along with a cousin that was his best friend and sworn blood brother, Danny Aust (Molly) of Missouri. John also leaves behind a valuable family friend that became family, Marvette Warren.

Graveside services with military honors will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, 11/22/23, at Belle Plaine Cemetery. 

John’s family would love to say a very special thank you to Home Instead and Hospice of the Big Country. They allowed John to pass peacefully at home as was his wish.
