Mary Ann Bell Jones woke up in the arms of Jesus on Friday, October 7, 2022, at the age of 72.
Mary Ann was born January 30, 1950 in Eureka, California before making the journey to Texas to be adopted by Fabian Eugene and Mary Blackburn Bell. She graduated from Baird High School in 1968 and received her Masters in Counseling and Psychology from Abilene Christian University. After reconnecting with her biological family, her passion for genealogy sparked her to connect with other family members.
Mary Ann loved to dance, teach her grandchildren the art of sewing, and thrift shop for vintage pieces. You could never miss a day without her wearing something with daisies on it. Her happiest moments were spent listening to Ricky Martin in the car with the windows rolled down and a Coke Icee in her hand. Most importantly, her calling in life was to be there for others. As a counselor, Mary Ann was a big advocate for mental health and a listening ear for anyone in need. She cared deeply for her clients and empathized with their feelings. She had a huge heart for connecting with people and making them feel loved and heard.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Fabian Eugene and Mary Blackburn Bell. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Noel Corn and husband Sam of Abilene; son William Bradford (Brad) Jones of Abilene; grandchildren Shelby Noel Corn of Dallas, Emly Bell Corn of California, and Joshua Logan Jones of Abilene; sister Pat Clough of Abilene; and Ina and Bill Willingham of Abilene.
Mary Ann’s wish was to be cremated. The family will hold a visitation celebrating her life from 2:00 to 4:00 PM Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Parker-Jacobs Funeral Home, 141 E. 3rd Street in Baird.
The family requests that memorials in Mary Ann’s honor be made to Stonewall County Food Pantry, Box 728 Aspermont, Texas 79502 and Stonewall County Senior Citizens, 516 S. Washington Aspermont, Texas 79502.
