Mary Olive Stroope of Baird, Texas passed away February 24, 2023 at the age of 88 at Patriot Heights Skilled Nursing Center, San Antonio, Tx. Mary was born on May 13, 1934 to Cordie and Beuregard Brame in Baird, TX.
Mary married the love of her life, Cecil R. Stroope on September 13, 1952. Mary and Cecil had two daughters Karen and Kathy and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Mary and Cecil enjoyed travelling in their RV and fishing in their bass boat. Summers were spent camping and water skiing with their girls and teaching their friends to water ski. Mary was an avid sports fan, especially the Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys football teams. She also played softball, basketball and bowling. Mary was a lifelong Texan and could often be heard saying, “everything is better in Texas”. In her latter years Mary moved to San Antonio and lived at Brookdale Assisted Living. She enjoyed going out to lunch and always ordered a cheeseburger saying,” I love them, they are my favorite”, she enjoyed the happy hour on Fridays at Brookdale listening to music, socializing with other residents, family and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by Cecil, her husband of 62 years, 2 sisters Wanda Elver and Martha Betcher, and 2 brothers Charles Brame and Buddy Brame. She is survived by her brother Benny Brame (Joanne) of Azle, TX, her daughters, Karen Dailey and son-in-law John of Helotes, TX, and Kathy Kemp of Del Rio, TX. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren Leanne McNamara (Mike), Jennifer Bailey (Jason) and Garrett Kemp (Audry) and 7 great grandchildren.
Memorial services with be held on June 6, 2023 at 11:00 am at Parker Jacobs Funeral Home, Baird, TX.
