Randy Havins Obituary

Randy Thomas Havins passed away on Saturday May 28th, 2022, at Hendrick Hospice Center in Abilene.     He was born on Aug. 13th, 1961, at Hendrick Medical Center.   He was the son of Dale and Doris Havins of Baird.

Randy lived an extraordinary life in 60 short years.  He grew up in Baird, spending most of his childhood at the Baird City jail visiting his grandmother and granddad, Sheriff Homer Price where they resided.

Randy and his brother Benny grew up huntin’ and fishin’.  From a young age he had a passion for country life with a little bit of city life thrown in.   Raised in Baird with the knowledge of his mom and dad finding about the mischief he and his brother might have caused together they didn’t cause much mischief.   He attended Baird ISD from kindergarten through Senior year.

After high school Randy joined the Air Force for four years where he attended the police academy gaining his Peace Officers License.  Shortly after those four years he settled down in Sweetwater, where here he and his first wife Delores Torrez had one child together, Kimberly Havins.   While living in Sweetwater, he worked for TSTC in the security department.

He later moved back to Baird to raise his daughter in his hometown.   They spent many wonderful years living with his mother and sharing many endless memories.  He took care of his mother in her later years along side his teenage daughter.  He always worked hard and took great care of both.  He loved going to all the family events, school events, and all the things that Baird had going on.

Randy started working for Hendrick Medical Center in the security department in 1996.   He worked there until retirement in 2019.  Randy always had a passion for work, and people.   During this time, he worked part-time at Hardin Simmons in the police department for many years. He always loved working.   After Hardin Simmons he went to work at the Callahan County Sheriffs department, where he worked as a Deputy, bailiff, and City Marshall.  Randy was a jack of all trades.  He built strong relationships with people he knew all his life.

In 2005 while working at Hendrick Medical center Randy met Rhonda Williams one night while on patrol at Mesa Springs.   After a year of dating, they were married in Baird on February 17, 2006.  Randy became a stepdad to Lydia, Mike, and Tim.   Throughout their marriage Randy was a loving husband.  Treating Rhonda, and her children with kindness, love, and respect.   Rhonda would always travel with him out of town for work related events, & family affairs through out the years.  They were always together and enjoyed each other’s company.  They shared a beautiful, wonderful life together filled with love.  They were blessed that God placed them into each other’s life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Doris Havins; grandparents, Sheriff Homer Price, and Ola Price, T.A. & Cleta Havins and Mary Lee Havins: brother Benny Havins; uncles, Rondal and Don Price, Delton Havins; aunts: Laverne Havins-Phillips, Laverne Wilkinson.
