Ronnie Lee Elliott Obituary

Ronnie Lee Elliott passed away Monday, March 13, 2023 in Rockledge, Florida at the age of 76.

Ronnie was born May 18, 1946 in Baird to Horace E. “Hob” and Mable Dean Wilson Elliott. He attended Baird High School, and entered the US Navy at age 17.  He worked as a general contractor in the construction field in Brownwood from 1976 until he moved to Florida in 2018.

Ronnie was a hard working man who did all he could to provide for his family as a single father. He was a collector of many things, including coins, cards, and brass. Ronnie enjoyed hunting, fishing, grilling, and relaxing at home. Most nights you could find him drinking a beer, scratching lottery tickets (at least one ticket from every gas station in Brownwood) on the front porch watching the sun go down. Ronnie loved being outdoors and often hosted fish fries and Fourth of July parties when his kids were growing up. When the party wasn’t outside, you could find him joining in on a game of Yahtzee or Dominoes with a big pot of his famous, homemade canned beans cooking on the stove. He loved to cook and was very good at it. Even when he didn’t have much to work with, whatever he came up with was always delicious. Every morning, he’d start his day sipping a hot cup of microwaved Folgers coffee, playing solitaire on the computer with the local news quietly playing in the background on volume 100.

He excelled in building/rebuilding many homes and commercial properties across Brown County for years. One of which includes Heartland Mall in Early Texas. After a long work day, you could find Ronnie relaxing in his garden or tinkering on anything from lawnmowers to a VCR player for hours. Even after he retired, Ronnie always kept himself busy with things he enjoyed, whether it was building a fence around his property in Brownwood or cruising down the streets of cocoa beach Florida in his golf cart.

He took pride in his appearance, always having a freshly shaved face, and would pay his favorite barber shop a visit every week for a haircut. Ronnie’s signature everyday look was a white t-shirt tucked into a pair of blue jeans, layered with one of his many flannels, and he completed the look with a cap and his square bifocals.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, two children, Robert E. Elliott and Kathie Lee Elliott, and brother-in-law Rick Latham.

Survivors include his children, Jennifer Klapper and husband John of Tonopah, NV, Scottie Elliott of Cocoa Beach, FL, Ronnie (Bubba) Elliott Jr. and wife Nicole of Cocoa Beach, FL, and Wendy Lou Elliott and fiance’ Randy Ribble of Brownwood; grandchildren Britney, Julia, Lauren and Jenna Klapper, all of Tonopah, NV, Crystin Benefield of Brownwood, Kayla Cox of Brownwood, Kelsey Elliott of San Angelo, and Lucas and Cashton Elliott of Cocoa Beach, FL; a sister, Shirley Elliott Latham of Abilene; nieces Kimberly Price and husband Kelly, Cindy Austin and Christie Welch of Abilene; and nephew Greg Austin of Cocoa Beach, FL; and many great nieces and nephews.
