Siprino B. (Sepy) Mendez, 81, of Baird, Texas, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at his home in Baird, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Joachim and Ann Mission Catholic Church in Clyde, Texas. Burial to follow at Ross Cemetery in Baird, Texas. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas, and services are being performed by Parker-Jacobs Funeral Home of Baird, Texas. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 9, 2023, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM with rosary and vigil to begin at 6:00 PM at the funeral home in Baird, Texas.
Sepy was born September 16, 1941, in Burnet, Texas, to Andrew and Dominga (Bustamante) Mendez. He has been a resident of Baird, Texas, since 1954. Sepy owned and operated Sepy Mendez Concrete Construction for many years. He attended St. Joachim and Ann Catholic Church. Sepy enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, eating, hanging out at the coffee shop in Baird, but he was mostly known for his stories, jokes, making everyone laugh, even during his final days, being a friend to everyone he met, but most of all loving his family. He believed in hard work, being true and genuine and was a believer in God with a tremendous faith. He will be missed by his family and many friends.
Those left to cherish his memories are his children Connie Pantoja and her husband James of Roscoe, Texas, Marie Mendez of Abilene, Texas, Sabrina Casey and her husband Ronnie of Aledo, Texas and Eva Mullins and her husband Mike of Hereford, Texas; his best friend and companion Irma Fox of Baird, Texas; and the mother of his children Teodora (Dora) Mendez of Abilene, Texas; his siblings Antonio Rios of San Antonio, Texas, John Mendez and his wife Jackie of Baird, Texas, Delores Keith of Baird, Texas, and a sister-in-law Alex (Collie) Mendez of Baird, Texas; 9 grandchildren Melissa Torres and her husband Simon of Arlington, Texas, Dr. Brittny Tillman and her husband Dr. Ryan Tillman of Southlake, Texas, Christina Martinez and her husband Jeff of Ft. Worth, Texas, Ricky Gavia and his wife Denise Flores of Ft. Worth, Texas, Hunter Dyer of McKinney, Texas, Joni Casey of Ft. Worth, Texas, John Louis Dyer, Jr. of Abilene, Texas, Baylee Mullins of Lubbock, Texas, and Gage Freeman of San Marcos, Texas; 11 great grandchildren Anthony Torres and his wife Haley and Zack Torres all of Arlington, Texas, Marissa Torres of Kerrville, Texas, Alonzo Pantoja, Lorenzo Guajardo, Yesenia, Christian, Rosie, and Gio Gavia all of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Knox and Bennett Tillman of Southlake, Texas.
Sepy is preceded in death by his parents, a son Siprino (Little Sepy) Mendez, Jr., a daughter Vickie Mendez, 2 brothers Andrew (Andy) and Alfredo (Fred) Mendez, a sister Delfina Sanchez, and a sister-in-law Dominga Mendez.
